  • 1.  Carbonite Ultra and ETC Color Source 40 Connectivity

    So we have a Carbonite Ultra set up in one of our Auditoriums. 

    I would like to have it talk to our ETC Color Source 40 to run some of the playbacks when we come In/Out of one of our Playback Sources. Mainly ducking lights when Playback is brought into one of our M/Es and bringing them back up when Playback is brought back into Preview. 

    Is there any way to accomplish this through Ross Talk?

    Hi Andrew,

    I had a quick look at the ETC ColorSource user manual and it does not appear that it supports RossTalk or any plain text protocol. You may want to reach out to ETC Support to confirm this.

    However, there are other ways to accomplish what you want to achieve.

    1. OSC protocol is mentioned in the ColourSource AV User Manual. Sending OSC is supported by Ross Video's DashBoard. So DashBoard can be the gateway between your Carbonite and the ETC ColorSource. Carbonite sends RossTalk to a custom DashBoard panel which in turn sends OSC to the ColorSource.
    2.  Alternatively, Bitfocus Companion supports OSC. So Companion can be the gateway between your Carbonite and ColourSource.

     I hope one of the above methods works for you.
