Thanks a lot for your response Nicole!
Yes, this was the solution that I ended up using on the show. But that didn't allow me to choose which frame I wanted the video to start, which was the only bummer. But it does work.

Hi Paulo,
maybe you used your placeholder movie in the scene director and have not give it a autoplay. In the scene director ther shopuld not be your movie as material shown or been draged. You have to build a scene that plays with a placeholder video that is on autoplay.

Subject: Changing video material on Sequencer and still controlling it on Scene Director
Hello all,
I have a scene where a (headshot) video plays along with a lower third animation. The video is played through the "IN" Scene Director and its material is Datalinked to a spreadsheet.
When I create multiple copies of the lower third on Sequencer for the different players, only the original video I used to create the lower third plays. The other ones show up, but don't play. I suspect it's because the other video materials are not present in the Scene Director, like the original one.
I could drag all the video materials in the "IN" Scene Director but since there are lots of them, it's doesn't seem like a efficient solution.
Does anybody know an alternative way to do this?
Thanks,
