  • 1.  Clear mediastore cache

    Posted 11-18-2022 10:13
I've got a Carbonite and I can not for the life of me figure out how to clear the mediastore cache. Can anyone tell me how to do it? There appears to be nothing in the manuals about this.

    Thanks!
    Mike

There really is no need to "clear the Cache" as the system automatically will dump Stills and animations as new items are requested.  This is done from Oldest used.  As you recall something it automatically goes to the top of the priority stack.

The only other thing that would block you is if you have something in a channel that has large number of frames that the next item you are looking to bring in has more frames then what it can allocate excluding that loaded item.  In that case you need to eject the channel which will tell the system that it is available to be removed..

In some of the newer systems there is now a media cache manager in dashboard that you can view this and also manually eject items.

If you could please attach a screen shot of the Dashboard status page for the Carbonite.  This will help us understand which version of software and which engine type to have to give you some further suggestions.

It is not included in the Black Software..

Again I am not understanding why there is a need to "clear the cache"?  The Cache Auto Manages..  The only thing that will prevent loading is if there is not enough space due to an Item that is too large is currently loaded in a channel.

The only items that will not "auto remove" , when space is required to load a requested item, are the items that are currently on a channel.  When something is in a channel it is protected.  You first Eject it from the channel and that will remove it from being protected by the cache system.

and put animation on the M2 channel and it returns error: cache full. The only way to fix it is hardreset.
I understand the solution is eject this specific animation which was loaded earlier and now is protect, but i don't know which one is it.

    for example:
on first show was loaded 50frames animation
on second: show 5 different stills,
on third: 150frames animation and 10 stills
    next show -captured 12 stills,
    next show
next show (everything is working fine)
    next
    next
    and bam!
error despite fact that the last thing was loaded to media channel was 1 frame still.

There has not been anything located as to why it would not allocate resources..

We can not recreate this issue at this time.
