I built AVIs in my in studio show Xpression. I want to be able to work on these AVI files on my laptop, but it is telling me that there is "No compatible video codec was found"
I am on v10.5 build 5477 beta (64 bit)
Any insight would be great.

I do not know that that will fix your issue, but I do know that computers get confused sometimes by that stuff.  Like having a . inside of a file name can throw things off.

Seeing your reply to red.  Just checking that you used a PC to convert into the Xpression codec and not a Mac?  Because to my knowledge they still do not make the Xpression coded of OS X.

Yes I coverted the TGA files in After Effects on a PC but used the Xpression Video Coder on the render out from After Effects. I tried the Video Coder program from Ross Xpression but it did not work properly on the TGA files I received. I got the files from a graphic house. I did not build them.

There is the chance that maybe the file naming needs to be different on a tga sequence.  The video coder is very picky about file naming for a sequence conversion.  Its like the carbonite, it has the be a very specific way or else it gets mad.

So the AVI files play out fine on my Xpression I am on in the studio, but when I try to get them to work on my laptop it says that there is a codec issue. So there is what the confusion is. And the warning on the attachment I have here is what my personal laptop is saying when I try to get to the AVI files. Works fine on my Xpression in the studio.

Long shot. when you installed Xpression on the laptop, did you do a full install of the software?  I know there are times where you might only move the application over and so some items do not follow.  Typically in the past, I have just done a full reinstall of Xpression and that lets me know that everything installed where it was supposed to.

What version of XPression is on your laptop?

I am tempted to suggest you render to the older XPression codec and try that, I can give you an installer if you want to try.

Sorry for the delay. I am on v10.5 build 5477 beta (64bit) on my laptop.
I was thinking the same thing about just re rendering the tga files that were sent from the graphic house out from my laptop in AE.
I don't think there will be any generation loss.
I need these for pre production for our editors. I build the dollar amounts then send them for their reels to bring to the studio on show days. If i can't get it done on my laptop then that is not really great. Would take up time in the morning on show days.
What do you think?

So I just re did all the files in AE on my laptop. I think they look fine and they work on my Xpression laptop program.
One other question though. How do you get rid of or clean out the Status Log that opens up when you open your project? It shows all the missing files. Do I have to go back to each scene and update them to the new files to have all of this go away?

You need to delete the materials that are looking for those missing files. 

You can right-click in material manager and delete all unused materials if you wish but just be aware you'll lose any materials not assigned to a object at that moment.
