  • 1.  Custom DB Panel for Acuity

I've got an Ultrix Acuity Switcher with an A2MDD panel. I'm trying to set up a custom Dashboard panel to do some remote control firing of different actions, primarily on my Ultritouch 2 panel. I can successfully fire crosspoint and CCs with RossTalk. One thing I'd really like to do is to set up a grid of buttons in my DB panel that always mimic the bus maps of my 2 MEs. I tried dragging and dropping buttons from the Acuity Dashboard panel in PanelBuilder mode, but it just creates an empty button. There doesn't seem to be any polling commands via RossTalk to see what the bus map is or even confirm on-air status of a source. If I could poll the panel, I could set up parameters to hold what input is on each button and reference those in the button programming. I could also poll which button is on-air and change an indicator accordingly. I know that data is somewhere, because the Acuity Dashboard panel shows it. I'm just trying to get a custom panel to do it.

Acuity does not have OGP support for the main busses .. you can get this from the Aux Buses but no the MEs..

If you want to setup your own script like in the Acuity DashBoard custom panel you will see that you can send a rosstalk command with the ? at the end instead of the paramater that would set it ...  ie XPT ME:1:PST:? would then have it reply to you (have to setup your own listener) with the information of which source was on the PST bus...

Does setting up the listener in the panel require any sending changes on the Acuity setup, or does the Acuity just replay by default to whichever device sent the command? Is there an application to test commands with in realtime similar to Postman with REST API commands?

Acuity will just respond ..  you do have to setup a device port on the acuity though to accept RossTalk..

That dropbox link has the Acuity custom panel that was built a few years back which will poll the switcher for status
