  • 1.  Custom MIDI Controller Mapping / Functions

    Hello!

I have recently set up a Behringer Universal Control Surface to operate as a MIDI controller for our Dashboard RAVE audio mixer and currently have the two of them communicating using the suggested set up from the Mapping Wizard.grid file. I see both the MIDI controller in my MIDI devices list within my tree, and everything is operating on a basic level (motorized faders respond and control the 8 assigned channels, mute / solo / PFL buttons can toggle on/off). There are however a few steps that could really set this controller up to be an excellent solution for our studio - but having some trouble with any level of customization from here.

The template for the MIDI controller is locked, so it does not allow me to access the functions using the Panel Builder mode, and any attempts to copy the template to a blank canvas has failed. I am trying to find a way to incorporate a logic loop for some additional buttons that are on my Behringer, F1-8, that when selected can re-assign the audiomixer assignments to the faders. For example - if I select F1, the assignments for the faders would match audiomixer.main.audio21.volume, but if I select F2 then the assignment should be audiomixer.aux1.audio21.volume, F3 for aux2 and so on. My goal is to be able to use the 8 faders to control each of our different pages of audio routed through the RAVE, but to do so would require coding the function keys to write the assignments to each of the faders. Is there a way to either set up the MIDI controller page to be customizable allowing a logic function to be added for this - or is there another approach that can set up these 8 buttons to do something similar?

Accessing the customization / code of the MIDI controller may also help alleviate a minor flaw at the moment, where my LEDs do not respond as expected - I can either set them up to turn on but never turn off, or have them not turn on. This does not impact the buttons' abilities to control audiomixer functions such as mute / solo / PFL, but would love to get the LEDs to reflect the active state of each.

    Any guidance is appreciated!

    HI,

The file does not need to be edited "in the file".  When the layout is applied to the controller you then have that device in your DashBoard NODEs and you will link from it to which OIDs you need to control from which Midi Commands.  You don't need to edit the file you edit the device.

The custom panel was created to help perform the config and setup of the file.  The Behringer files were included so that the default layers are matching what comes standard with an Xtouch out of the box.
