Let me start by saying, I don't really know what I'm doing with building graphics in xpression, but have just kind of figured things out as I go, so if you see something I should do differently, I'm open to suggestions...
That said, I have two Datalinq questions that I can't quite figure out and was recommended by Ross Support to ask here:
1. I have a batter graphic that I need to change for each batter or make 9 of them and prebuild the lineup each game(this is what I'm currently doung), but the number of the current batter is being passed from DakStats, so I am wondering if I can make a DataLinq Key or some other way to pull from the data that is being passed? See image for what I am talking about...The number I manually entered was 6, but I would love for it to automatically pull 4 from the stats that are coming in through DakStats. This would save me from prebuilding a lineup group every game, and just make one graphic that is showing the current batter(this would also help in pinch hitter situations) but I'm not sure how to do that? For reference, The DakStats data we have does not pass a full player name, only Number, and Last name(which you can see in the below image), so we use that Jersey variable to reference an Excel sheet that has the player full names based on the Jersey number, this is why I can't pull all the information directly from DakStats...I need to take the Jersey number from DakStats, and use that to reference the excel sheet...That's the part I'm not quite getting...
2. Similarly, we are playing with building a new graphics package, and our current bug reads the data from DakStats, and then a script changes the text from 1 to TOP and if it's 0, output BOT...But the new graphics package, we would like for it to be an arrow image...I feel like I'm close, but missing something of how to make this work...The TOPorBottomDAK Text field is pulling from DakStats and it pulls the number 1 or 0, and puts it out on the text field...but the Image is not changing...When I change the Datalinq property of %TOPorBottomDak% to 1 or 0, that changes the image as well, but they are not changing with the DAKStats data feed...Any ideas? I can send more photos of places to look as well if needed...I've seen several RossU Videos of how to get similar things working, but have not seen one working if the data is coming from Datalinq originally...I have seen dynamically changing text, but not taking text and outputting an image based on that text...does that make sense?
