I am using an Excel spreadsheet with a list of talent names to drive Lower Third (L3) builds for producers in a news environment. Two lines of text, one possible logo.
Line 1, choose the talent from the List Box or Combobox (tried it both ways). That choice uses Assign Columns to put the contant info into Line 2, and, if one is assigned for meteorologist creds, an icon in Image 1.

After looking at the community posts here, I was able to execute that quickly and it works as designed if built in Sequence.
When this scene is selected by news producers in Octopus (the newsroom control software) using the MOS plugin, it displays the talent list to select from.  As soon as talent is chosen, however, Line 2 blanks itself out. If Image 1 has an icon assigned, it also fails to load.

Can anyone suggest a way to remedy this? Is it plausible that when the rundown is sent from Octopus to the XPression at air time and it creates the Sequence, those lines will populate as they were designed? I can't check that theory for a number of reasons related to my working remote, and the team there seems put off to even test that outside of broadcast. Totally open to a more efficient and effective way to do it, as well, but this is one I found here that seemed to work.

Thanks in advance. This is easily the most helpful and professional community I've come to in my 30-year career (a whole 2 months of it with a Ross, lol).

I assume this is using the XPression HTML5 MOS plugin in Octopus? If this issue is only present inside the MOS plugin, it is probably a bug. Making the HTML5 MOS plugin work correctly with User Input Controls has been a long process and many many fixes have been implemented to make all types of template design work in the plugin.

What version of the XPression MOS Gateway are you running? Ex. version 10.0 build 5216.

Depending on what version you are on its quite possible this bug has already been resolved.

@Rob Chronister I don't see anything in our change log that might address this issue. Can you please send the template you are having issues with to swhitesell@rossvideo.com and gmillward@rossvideo.com? We will likely need to test your template and determine if there is an unresolved bug with user input controls in the HTML5 plugin.

I decided to dig deeper for the root causes in business that prevent us from practicing daily ethical design. Now, after much research and experimentation, I believe that I’ve found the key that will let us structurally integrate ethics. And it’s surprisingly simple! But first we need to zoom out to get a better understanding of what we’re up against https://mlsdev.com/blog/how-much-does-it-cost-to-build-a-website.
