  • 1.  DataLinq Source Requests

    Posted 20 days ago

    Hello,

I have a question about DataLinq requests from within XPression. We have a scene that gets DataLinq info from the server, hosted on the MOS Gateway machine. The data is a weather condition that links to Dynamic Materials that are AVI movies and icons. We've had an issue where the scene is put in a framebuffer and the the template defaults are used instead of new DataLinq info. In looking at the logs for the DataLinq server, for an take item that ran today around 15:03, I do not see a request from the Studio box for that take item, but later in the show I do see the request when the same scene was played.

In the scene, the DataLinq properties are set to 'Return Empty on Failure' but the template defaults stay. I've looked around and I haven't found a place in Studio where outgoing DataLinq requests might be logged.

There is also a DataLinq server running on the Studio box itself, I just took a look at it and it had some data sources that were not working and seemed to hang up. I've disabled them and turned on the data request logging. I don't know if a second DataLinq server fetching the same data could be a hinderance or not.

    I would appreciate any help.

    Thank you!

How are you getting the materials? Are you using macros?

    Hello,

All of the materials are are just avi videos and their filename matches the data. So if the condition is '31' it plays 31.avi. I don't see any macros other than just the dynamic material under the DataLinq tab referencing the text object that is being driven by DataLinq. (image)

    Thank you!

You need to check requery on datalinq for the Weather Condition object.

I checked all four objects that use DataLinq and all have that checked. Appreciate the help.

I probably should have mentioned that I didn't change the Requery setting. It's been set this entire time.

I've added a failsafe to the scene that plays a generic blue video if the template defaults do not change. I've asked the directors, and they mention that they see the generic background often when they run the open.

(Edit) While in the control room today, I noticed that in Remote Sequencer, the status indicator for DataLinq cycles between Blue and Red. Is this reading the status from Studio, or does Remote Sequencer's have its own connection?

    Thanks!

Remote Sequencer's Datalinq status is reporting the Gateway's connection to the Datalinq Server (configured in the Gateway Settings -> Datalinq configuration). This doesn't effect individual objects' connection to Datalinq...those remain defined by their projects' Datalinq Manager setting. However, if the Gateway is set up to read the same Datalinq server as the project, it would show whether that Datalinq server is active.

    Thanks Jeff,

Apparently the Gateway's DataLinq is pointed at a machine that doesn't exist anymore.
