Production Switchers

We're installing an Ultrix Carbonite in a facility that will be operating in 1080p59.94. However, due to some aging infrastructure, we still need to provide a 1080i program output.

Can the Ultrix Carbonite generate a single 1080i output directly from an SDPE card, or will we need to handle this through an openGear card instead? The manual is clear on input support, but not on output capabilities.

Hi Ryan,

You will need to handle this through an openGear card. There is no output format conversion on Ultrix Carbonite.

Alternatively, Ultrix now has format conversion capabilities on HDX and MODX boards, unfortunately also only on inputs (and a license is required). But if you take the 1080p output from Ultrix Carbonite, and physically loop it back into the Ultrix, you can convert the signal to 1080i.
