I'm not sure how to directly address address your problem, but I will say that I have been using .xls docs for data for a long time and have just recently started having compatibility problems where the file won't save correctly and other issues. So I switched to .xlsx documents. I was told that as long as you use the 32 bit version of Excel and turn on legacy sharing, it should work in datalinq. It has been working well for me since the switch, so I would recommend trying that.

Subject: Excel Datalinq data missing
I've been populating stats with Excel sheets in the xls. format and i haven't had an issue with it until yesterday where some number stats aren't populating into datalinq and I have tried changing the formatting of the cells from generic to number and also to text and it still hasn't populated for me. Usually that does the trick for me but im lost.
