I would like to explore using GPIOs sent from our Graphite systems.  I see that the Audio Breakout Module is required in order to have the GPIO port.  I don't have any other need for the Audio Breakout Module - is it possible to use some kind of USB GPIO Expander in place of this?  Would Dashboard / Carbonite be able to see a USB GPIO Expander?

    Thanks,

Good day, Jason. What is it you're trying to accomplish? Do you want to send commands to the Graphite from an external device or control an external device from Graphite? Depending on what your goals are, we might be able to suggest some methods that don't require GPIO commands.

    Thanks.

    Hi Ted, thank you.

I was wanting to send some GPO commands as Custom Controls to some external devices.  One device was an ETC light board, which I'm now seeing I could setup and send UDP commands instead.  But the other device is an Apantac Multiviewer, which looks like it would need to be GPO.

Thanks, Jason. Which model Apantac MultiViewer do you have? There are some that are based on our openGear protocol which would make control much simpler.

    Thanks.

Good day, Jason. According to the Apantac MI-8 12G-UHD Datasheet, the ethernet connection can be used for both "...configuration and control." However, none of the documentation I've been able to download actually specifies what controls are possible or how to set them up. Unfortunately, that means that I can't be certain whether the unit would be controllable from DashBoard.

The manual does state that the unit supports both GPIO and TSL; since Graphite supports the TSL 3.1 protocol, you should be able to dynamically send UMD information to the Apantac. But I doubt you'd be able to change layouts or configurations remotely.

You might also consider contacting Apantac Tech Support to see if they have any further information about remotely controlling the unit.

Sorry we can't be of more assistance.
