  • 1.  Hide default text in published object?

    Posted 09-29-2022 15:28
In a scene, I have some published text objects.
If they don't receive any data from my NRCS, is it somehow then possible to hide the template text or do I have to delete the text?

you can click the box in your datalinq source marked "return empty on fail", so that if it gets nothing it will pass nothing onto your xpression scene.

@Malcolm Thorpe right now it's a static text, so I have to change to a datalinq and then choose "return empty on fail"?

If it is static text that is entered by the operator you can go into layout and erase the text you used to set up the text field. Don't delete the text field, just the characters in that field. It should then show up as blank until your operator types something in while in the sequencer. (edit) Actually, if the text is published, it shouldn't show up until your operator types something in.

The input comes from the CII gateway.
So if I delete text in fields, I have no opportunity to se the template correct.

Ah yes CII. The only time I used CII, you basically took what it gave you. But now I understand your question. When I used CII, I was forced to format my template to accept just the fields I wanted. So, every text field I had was fed the correct data. I don't know how you would turn off a text field if the data wasn't what you wanted. When I was with an NBA team using CII we had SEVERAL scenes that would accept specific data that was pre-programmed. I'm sorry that I can't help you. You might be able to do some scripting that would turn off the visibility if the field sent from CII was a known text.

I recommend sending a blank space to the text objects you want to be cleared.
