This may be a version problem, I'm on Xpression 9.5

Imported a simple .obj file but I can not use Visual Logic to assign a material because it does not have the "Face" property available. Has this been added in newer versions?

Note: Already wrote this in VB, but our MOS plugin is version 11.There must be an API change because this works in the sequencer but not iNews. Second time this version difference has bitten me.

I usually go down the approach of changing the materials rather than the objects if that makes sense? So the material on the object never changes but you actually change the material itself.

I can't change the material. The option to access the "face" on an .obj is not there in Visual Logic. Wanted to know if it is available in versions after 9.5

I think you misunderstood me, you can adjust the material via script or visual logic. So you don't change the material you alter it.

    I see.

Unfortunately I need to change a gradient and that's no possible in Visual Logic.

But I can probably use this idea back in VB. I just finished a scene where I created materials and shaders via code and assigned them to quads and worked even in the MOS plugin. Material assignment must have been a problem with just the obj.

What I will try next is change the shader on the material in VB.

Thank you for the inspiration and direction. It's going to be a while till I can try; other dragons to slay right now, but I will give feedback once I get a chance to try!

Depends what the gradient is but if its just light to dark you can put the gradient on it but just make it black but alpha 0 on the sides where you want the colour and then alpha to the level you want it in the others like 2 parts are alpha 0 and 2 are alpha 25 so it goes light to dark and then your diffuse is your colour behind that.

Unfortunately it is more complicated than that. Varying ramps, sometimes color shifting, sometimes not. But thanks!

In that case, you'll need to go down the scripting route, let me know if I can help with that.
