  • 1.  JSON connection issues - Carbonite Ultra

    G'day all,

I'm trying to control a Carbonite Ultra with a third-party device (Crestron).
I'm having trouble connecting to the unit using port 5254, which is for the JSON version of the OGP protocol.
Everything that I've read says that the port should be open by default but it appears that port 5254 is not open on the Carbonite as DashBoard cannot connect via JSON either (but has no problems using OGP) and when I perform a port scan, port 5254 doesn't come up as open.
Also, when I look at the switcher status page in DashBoard, 5254 does not appear in the list.

Am I missing something? Do I have to enable this port somehow?
Any help would be much appreciated.

My apologies if this is in the wrong discussion area.

    Thanks in advance

    Blessings

    Hi Matthew
Most devices only implement either the Binary or the JSON version of OGP.  The Carbonite Ultra uses OGP-Binary so runs on port 5253 instead of 5254.  You can use the DashBoard Proxy Server to transform an OGP-Binary devices into an OGP-JSON device.
