  • 1.  Logic to determine where L3 is positioned

    Posted 04-25-2023 15:43

I am using Logic to size the width of my L3 box sizes. I have names of varying lengths in my sequence. How do I use logic to ensure that the right edge of my L3 lands in the same position, regardless of the length of the name and title in the L3. Right now, the L3 ends up further inside safe areas when the name is short and closer to the edge when the names are long. I am using center-justified names and titles in blocks, as that is what the client designed.  I had to position the group of elements far into the screen because a few speakers had very long titles, making the L3s for the shorter names positioned too far to the center of the screen. What do I need to use so the edge of the L3 lands in the same spot each time?

    Thanks!

You have everything centered but you could right align everything?

Both name text and title must be center aligned. If I position the group as a whole to the right of the screen, the boxes and text grow off screen with long names and titles. Right now I have positioned the group as a whole far enough on screen so that this doesn't happen. I am hoping to fix the position of the group while allowing for right justification but keeping the text centered in the boxes.

In that case you should move a group with both items in negative X as the size of the box grows, probably about half its width left as it gains size. boundingbox.width divided by 2, multiple by negative 1 so you get minus the value so its moving left with and offset to get the position you want to the X property.

Simon, thank you for this! Should I apply this to the group as a whole? Going to try this asap.
