  • 1.  Main output flashes when saving pictures to media manager via ftp

    Our previous USB stick became corrupted, so we have had to start using another one. Since doing so, when copying files across, we sometimes get a major glitch on the main output of the mixer (it's a Carbonite Ultra, running 4.0.0.4517). To be on the safe side, we're now removing the stick to write to it. We've been using ftp for some years, although we've only been using the Ultra for a few months, we had another Carbonite in that studio before, and we use another (not an Ultra) in our other studio. Neither of these mixers have displayed this issue.

    Has anyone else seen anything like this?

    Hi Andrew,

    Unfortunately, I have not seen or heard the issue that you encountered. I suggest trying a few different things and see if the glitch persists.

    1) Which FTP client are you using? Personally, I have been using Filezilla.

    2) Try a different USB stick. Note that it should be formatted to FAT32.

    3) Upgrade Carbonite Ultra to the latest firmware (v7)

    - While the release notes does not mention anything related to our issue here, but I see that improvements were made to the USB access.
    - Plus there are other bug fixes and new features since v4.

    If the glitch persists, I recommend reaching out to Tech Support to investigate this further.

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    Yes, we use Filezilla.

    I have tried a third memory stick, and copying some things across to it, there was no glitching, so we will watch this over the next week or two to see if we have chased the problem away.

    We are behind on firmware - as we are live for 14 hours a day, scheduling this in is tricky, and there is also the issue of Media Manager's playlist function having been removed (though I am aware that direct connection to the frame rather than through dashboard gives this back). We will I imagine have to do this soon though.

    Hi Andrew,

    • CR-1853 - Improvements to USB access to reduce message latency.
    So there was fixes regarding USB access added.  This might also help with the issue you saw or maybe not now that you have a better USB drive.

    The Media Manager Sequencer is removed however in Version 7 We introduced a Production Sequencer that can be used with many facets of the Switcher and making Playlists of Media Items would also be able to be used this way.  Plus you can use custom controls to load them and even operate the controls.  If you have time to take a look at that you might be able to amend your workflow and move to version 7.
