  • 1.  Masking crawl text in a scene group without affecting Scene Group

    Posted 06-22-2023 00:53

Hey all, I have a standard crawl setup with a Scene Group scene and several child text scenes.  For the outro animation of the crawl, I'd like to animate a mask to wipe across the all the child text scenes, while the prerendered video background bar animates off separately underneath.  The only problem is, I can't make a mask on the main scene to mask the text without it also masking the prerendered video.  I can't put the main scene content into a Layer Object or else it covers up the child scene text regardless of Depth Sorting (unless I'm doing it wrong) and if I put the child scene text objects in a Layer Object, they ignore the main scene masks.  Is there any way to accomplish this?

    Thanks

You should be able to create another scene on a lower layer apart from your scene group that achieves the effect you're looking for and that would not be affected by the parent scene's masks. You'll just want to setup scene triggers if you're playing out via sequencer; if you're using Tick-it, just include the scene when building your show.
