I have a Graphite + TouchDrive 2. It shows 3 ME - ME1, ME2, ME P/P. What is ME P/P and how does it differ from the other two. Currently I think ME2 is set up as my Program Switcher.

I answered in the other post -- sorry for the delay but first time posters get held for approval to sort out the Bots/Spammers..

ME P/P is a Program / Present ME.  The Ultra Family and newer lines use that concept vs the older Black/Graphite series where when you added MEs the Highest ME would be the PGM ME.

ME P/P is your ME3, that is the ME you will use to cue up shots and send to program.

    P/P = Program/Preset

    Hi Josh,

Just to clear this up so no future confusion -- it is NOT ME 3 ...  ME P/P is more like "ME 0" to think about  it as a number.

With Older Carbonite/Graphite Switchers and the Synergy/Vision/Acuity Lines the final ME always was the highest number in the system.  The thing about that is when you would move shows between switchers that had different ME counts you would have to constantly edit custom controls and other Effects as the PGM ME was changing.

With the Release of Ultra and now applies to Ultra Solo / Ultra 60 / Ultrix Carbonite / HyperMax and the software switchers like Carbonite Code/Graphite CPC the shift to keeping ME P/P as the fixed location ensures that even if you move a 2 ME Ultra File set to an 8 ME HyperMax all of the Custom Controls and Effects that you mean to apply to your Program ME will always be correct.  As you scale up you will also start with ME P/P.

    ME P/P
    ME 1
    ME 2
    ME 3
    ME 4
    ME ...
    ME 8

    Hope that clears it up.

Not really...at least for me. We have a TD2 on Graphite, 2 ME...our Program ME is ME 2. So does that mean P/P doesn't really function as its not the highest, and I cant use it as another ME?

From the other post on the same subject my reply to that was:
    -----------------------------
    Hi David,
Those are default user buttons that ship with all the panels.

ME P/P is a concept that is in the Ultra Series that was never in the Graphite however you can print labels to replace those on transparent sheets.

All user button assignments can be found in the Personality Page of dashboard.  From the bottom right Menu Nav Button you can select the personality and then user buttons.

Each row Can have it's own selection -- both don't have to match.
    ----------------------------------

The Panels all Ship out with the same default button inserts on the panels.  For a Graphite as that is not the newer ULTRA Family (it is part of the older Carbonite Black / Graphite Family) and thus uses the OLDER paradigm that the highest ME is always the systems Program ME.  There is no ME P/P in the Graphite.

The Graphite series could be licensed as a 1 ME with 4 miniME or as a 2 ME with 4 miniME.

If the Graphite was a 1 ME License then you would have the Program ME using ME 1
If the Graphite was a 2 ME license then you would have the Program ME using ME 2

Taking a show built on either of those between them would result in the user having to edit all of the custom controls that were running effects to target what is now seen as the program ME.

With the introduction of the Ultra Series (which also runs a newer implementation of the software -- they are not compatible and why we had to introduce a feature to export sets to ultra format from graphite) we took the opportunity to improve this by introducing the ME P/P concept.

That concept is not on a graphite.  So you can change the user button assignments on your panel and replace the labels in the button caps.
    https://help.rossvideo.com/graphite/Topics/Setup/Personality/UserButton.html

That link will take you to the section about user buttons and then you can click through to see how to change them in personality menu.

Here is in the manual the section on Re-Entry timing for how the system works in Graphite:
    https://help.rossvideo.com/graphite/Topics/Operation/Basics/Re-Entry-Timing.html

ME 1 and ME 2 are Locked in a time slice location -- had we introduced the concept of ME P/P in Graphite what is effectively ME 2 would have been called ME P/P and when you unlocked the "2nd ME" with a license it would have been ME 1 that was now available.  Thus a 1 ME or 2 ME would be able to transfer file sets between with less editing required.

On the Carbonite Ultra Family the Timing is not as restrictive and we were also able to introduce the ME PP concept so that a user ALWAYs has Custom Controls and Effects that target the same Logical Entity no  matter how many total ME are in the system:
