Hi Michael,
We have a full developer's kit for openGear that documents the electrical, physical and protocol interfaces for the openGear frame. In order to access, you'll need to sign up as an openGear Partner. Basic membership (which gives you access to all the docs) is free; there is just a license agreement and NDA required.
You can sign up at the opengear.tv website under the "Become a Partner" page: Become a Partner - openGear.tv

Subject: Opengear Card Specification and CAN Bus Protocol
HI, I'm a developer working on building an opengear card for internal use on specific live event and touring productions. Ive more or less figured out the physical pinout and card dimensions with a good ol multimeter and calipers, and am able to build cards that fit In the frame and are powered however I'd like more information on how to communicate with the frame to allow for settings from dashboard and to monitor the status of my card. It seems like the frame internally uses CAN bus, but Im not sure what the protocol is and what I need to do to properly handshake with the frame. Is there any developer documentation for openGear? I tried searching here and on GitHub but was unable to find anything. Thanks!
