  • 1.  OVA Carbonite Simulator

    Hello, i have downloaded the *Updated* OVA file from the carbonite support page. Installed into Virtual Box and have a problem with connecting to the DHCP address assigned. 

    Instead of it giving me a 127.0.0.x address as i assumed it would, it generated a 10.0.2.15. I am unable to ping that address from my computer. 

    I also attempted to change the Network adapter within the VM to use the LAN adapter on my laptop. However when that is selected the VM will not generate an IP at all. 

    is there any step i am missing? 

    Dashboard Version: 9.4.1 (OSX) 

    VM Version: 7.0.6

    I found with my MacBook I needed to use a Wired Ethernet ..  The Wifi would not work even if connected to a Router supplying DHCP..

    Once I connected my USB-C to Ethernet then it operated correctly.. and you do need a Bridged setting so they are both using the real network adapter.

    Do I need to Ethernet into a network that’s handing out dhcp addresses? Just adding the adapter returned no given IP from the vm.

    Les, i connected my LAN adapter to a network handing out DHCP adresses, and was able to generate an address in the VM.

    When i attempt to add as a Manual connection in dashboard i get no device information on the given IP. 

    I can ping this vm device successfully from terminal. Is there a different method of adding it into dashboard?

    Yes with a Mac I have found that I had to have the network using the Ethernet connection..

    You don't use the "detect information" just ADD the device

    Next you enter the data and just hit Finish dont use Detect info...

    5253 for just the Main Panel UI or use 5257 if you would like to have the Virtual Panel Surface and menu
