We have a Carbonite Black Solo 13 and from time to time we have issues and need to reboot from the frame. Only problem is we also lose some of our configuration and need to reprogram certain settings: custom controls and keyers. Is there any way we can save all of that, reboot and then reload the configuration so it comes back with everything in tact?

Also, at the moment we are experiencing a.problem with sending.Companion commands using RossTalk to the switcher so we'd like to reboot hoping communication can be re-established with reboot.

The switcher can save everything to a USB drive plugged into the Frame.

    https://help.rossvideo.com/solo/Tasks/Setup/USB/Storing-Setups.html

    That link covers storing setups.

As for Companion not sending commands to the switcher.  Instead of rebooting the switcher you could use DashBord and build a custom Panel with a RossTalk command ... or use the RossTalk Plugin for Streamdeck to send a RossTalk Event to the switcher to verify that the switch is actually the cause of the issue.

Thanks for the reply, Les. Over the holiday weekend, our IT guy attempted to backup the switcher following the instructions you sent but was unsuccessful. He tried using the USB port in the console surface control as well as the one in the frame backstage but said each time he got a message that it failed. Also said he tried 3 different flash drives including the one we already had plugged in the frame with images for MediaSwitcher. Does the USB need to be formatted in a certain manner?.

He said he also made a direct connection to the switcher and sent Rosstalk commands and nothing happened.

Also, regarding Companion, it is sending commands everywhere else in our system: audio console, lighting computer and elsewhere. And it did, up until a week or so ago successfully send commands to the switcher that were received and executed. That's why we're assuming the problem is on the switcher end. Everything else is working fine.

Sounds like you need to contact support. USB has to be in the frame and it must be FAT32. If you can not use dashboard to connect at all or send RossTalk messages then it's going to need a ticket and support to follow up.

Probably a dumb question but does Dashboard utilize Rosstalk to communicate to the switcher normally? I mean we have a custom panel that I built to control our PTZ cameras and it works just fine. I was even in LiveAssist last week to set up one of the keyers and that worked as well.

No you would have to build a custom panel and make buttons that send RossTalk..

The "native" dashboard protocol is called OGP that is used for that interface you mention.

You can close out this post. Finally able to backup settings and, more importantly, rebooting the Carbonite DID restore our ability to send RossTalk commands directly to the switcher from Companion.
