Hi Jamie,
Welcome to the Community! - and always feel free to ask anything you need to - we are all always learning!
I am not sure which TRIA you have but I guess that you either have a TRIA Express Duet or a TRIA+.
First of all, these machines natively record in AVC-I 100 and there is no changing this. Within the .clip file, the native file is actually a 'specially wrapped' AVC-I 100 file.
Now to your actual query -
Exporting video from a TRIA unit - the fastest way to get content out of TRIA and into another system is to export a (native) AVC-I 100 file. If you test this, you will find that this export can happen at speeds substantially faster than real-time and certainly much faster than you have experienced with transcoding to a different format. The next system, that is using this content, can almost certainly import AVC-I 100 files so this would solve your required workflow. If you are unable or do not wish to do this, then the Transcoding from an AVC-I 100 file to whatever else you require, could be done externally to TRIA - by something like Adobe Media Encoder or Telestream Vantage.
TRIA+ - if you have a TRIA+ unit, then this system also offers the possibility to create live Growing Files using the Growing File Export function - using an external storage system, TRIA+ can create a live growing file(s), in AVC-I 100 around 34 seconds or so, behind the live input Recording trains. These live growing files can then be accessed and edited very quickly by applications such as Adobe Premier Pro.
I hope that all of this is of some help.

Subject: Ross Tria - Record Format
Hi,
I am very much a newbie so apologies if this is a stupid question... we want to be able to access the Tria's media over the network. But we have found that exporting video is very slow (reported about 0.7x speed.) Is it possible to change the tria to record directly to H264 files ready for edit, rather than to the proprietary .clip format?
