If the Vendor is using OGP (which is good as that is able to provide feedback both ways) then input 1 is the physical inputs. This does not do anything with a Sat Panel Bus map. Having them use a Sat panel connection just ensures that they don't cause issues for the physical panels Menu system -- ie making changes to the menus etc from the same connection as a physical panel would have the Panel Link switch that menu.
The Physical Panel would have a busmap (set in the personality menu for it's DashBoard UI and connection - for Main Panel that is 5253) If Button 1 is mapped to something other than physical input 1 then it will be different than what you see on the air.
screen shots from the Live Assist Menu for port 5253 would be helpful as would seeing the Bus Map assignments for it on the Personality Page for 5253 connection).

Understood. I've been working on determining what the issue is. I've gotten some traction on the configuration, so I may need to discuss with the Automation vendor what command they're sending for input 1, it shows the right source and plays it on the screen (and I can see in livepanel that the preset and program bus do as expected) but the buttons for input 1 (input 2 on our config, button input 1 is locked to black source) do not illuminate.
inputs 2 through 8 (the only ones I've recently tested) operate as expected.

The OID for the sources are a fixed list and order. They are not generated based on the Bus Map that is assigned to a Control Panel port.
That Bus Map is what shows up on a Physical Control Surface (they can not be linked - it is intentional that they would be different as each surface would have it's own bus map layout). With multiple Panel types and Sizes this is important to allowing operators to assign different layouts based on that hardware.
When OVD sets a source on the switcher the physical panels will show that source on the bus map where it is. If the physical panel does not have that source mapped to it then it will not show anything on the bus row -- however for a Keyer the TD panel does have dedicated keyer source displays that would show what is assigned to that source.
Also the menu will have the sources on the ME pages or the Bus Map pages which can access everything directly.

New installation of Carbonites. Working on automation. The automation is using OPG OID protocols to control the switcher. Does that okay. It's acting as a satellite panel on port 5255. The main panel and satellite panel have different bus map assignments, so that when the automation calls up a source, it does not show up where we expect it to be. This makes ensuring that the right source is called up on the main panel difficult.
Can I remotely change the layout of the satellite panel? Or can I mirror so the main panel and satellite panel layouts are always identical?
