Thank you, Louis,
I will try your advice on Monday when I get back to work. I don't remember exactly how I made that shot. I think I created a non ME template in Overdrive, just to be able to recall a custom control (that custom control simply recalling an ultra scene) and then I added 6 additional devices for AUXs, and set them as crosspoints. Yet any time I tried to run that shot, I ended up with 6 black boxes.
Probably there is a conflict between Overdrive and Carbonite, they both try to recall some crosspoints at the same time.
Also, Caprica doesn't see any UltraScenes in the Inputs list, which means OverDrive doesn't see them either. So I can't create a regular template, with UltraScene as source on the pvw or pgm bus. I guess I need to use an additional AUX for that.

Sorin how are you recalling the scene, via the ultrascene memories or the traditional memory recall? If you set the scene up then use the traditional memory to recall, you can go to the memory attributes in either store or recall depending on if you want it to affect all memories or specific ones and turn off the layers crosspoint recall so the last source stays in the bus. If you are using aux's make sure you turn them off in attributes as well.

Hey Les!
Thanks for your reply. I did build a scene using AUXs as sources, but it behaves rather weirdly when I try to add it to OverDrive as a template. One of the reasons is that OverDrive doesn't see any Scene as a selectable source. And recalling it via a memory empties the sources sent to the layers. I must be doing something wrong, but it's not that big of a deal, as I can assign saved scenes as Custom Controls on my ShotBox.
And about switching sources in AUX buses using the TD Panel - it's not that easy with more complex scenes that use 4–6 layers. It's actually a bit faster to use a mouse inside Dashboard.

Hi Sorin,
As a suggestion you could use "Aux Buses" as a virtual source in your Layers. That way you could say put Aux 21 as Layer 1 and 22 as layer 2 etc. Then you could more easily select sources for those layers using the TD panel and delegating the top row to those Aux buses.

I use scenes mainly for +4 boxes, since I use a Carbonite ultra with 4 keys MEs.
But the main appeal is having them as a single source on the pgm bus, rather than an ME plus keys.
The main drawback is that i fiind it quite tedious to change sources inside scenes (using touchdrive dashboard and the mouse) as opposed to changing sources in ME keys.

I am playing around with Scenes and I'm curious what other people think. It's obvious that it saves MEs but beside that, how do you find them useful?
Thanks!
