  • 1.  Send GPIO from Acuity to Panasonic AW-RP60 to select PTZ presets

We're getting a couple of Panasonic UE-150 cameras to add to our Panasonic CX350s, but I'll only have a day or two for setup before using them for the live podcast-style event they're being purchased for (starting this Friday). I will be using PTZ presets for each camera as tight shots for six guests, and would like to trigger these presets from our Acuity (not Dashboard). I know the RP60 controller accepts GPIO via DB25, but I have no experience setting this up.

For example, is it just a regular DB25 serial cable to connect the two, or something custom-made? Any protocol gotchas, or is GPIO standard between these two devices? I don't know how to configure the Acuity at that level, although I've set up plenty of attached custom controls, etc. Worst case is I can trigger the presets from the RP60 panel, but I'm trying to simplify for the operator.

We do NOT need to control the actual PTZs from Dashboard, just remotely trigger presets, so I shouldn't need the Panasonic protocol license (?)

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    https://help.rossvideo.com/acuity/Topics/Specs/GPI.html

That has the link to the GPIO Port.  Key is to figure out what the controller wants for a GPI is it Voltage or just a contact closure..  If just a contact closure then you can use the Tally Connector instead .. then we will setup some "fake" tallies on sources on an Aux bus and you would use that fake auxbus to set a source to trigger the tally.. that will short the GPI to ground.  If it is a voltage then you setup the GPO as above and use a CC to Trigger the GPO.. usually you use Trigger not Level and set the number of frames that it holds the closure for before resetting again..   Older Chyron CGs for example needed to have it shorted for minimum 5 frames so we always set it to 7 frames.
