  • 1.  sharing excel sheets for stats

    Posted 12 days ago

I'm trying to share a baseball stat sheet between a PC laptop and our production truck computer (over our truck wifi) so xpression can pull stats from it.

whats the best way to config this? Both the "sharing workbook" and datalinq format, is it just ADODB datalinq or the xml route?

    Thanks!

No is the easy answer. - I mean if you can navigate to the file in a windows explorer window on the production truck, then sure you can link to it. ---- for any solution provided, doing data over wifi could always be tricky.

The cleaner step would probably be to instal datalinq on the computer that has the excel sheet, and then point your production truck computer to that IP address in xpression datalinq manager. - I would also make sure if still using wifi to make sure you use static IP addresses and not DHCP.

Would still just be an ADODB because it is an excel sheet.

One thing our IT folks helped me figure out for excel sheets is to install the Google Drive app. It makes Drive appear as a mounted volume on the PC's, and helps get around some of the weirdness of trying to figure out what Excel setting we have to set for sharing, since Microsoft seems to change it all the time. I don't have that datalinq on my home computer, but I remember it worked well either accessing it as excel on a PC or as a google sheet (can't remember, that was last year).   Hope that helps!
