Hi Debora, it would be helpful to know the make/model of the PTZ for reference.
It is recommend for SmartShell control of PTZ cameras that the Camera Plugin (Furio Gateway) inside DashBoard is used. The VISCA Gateway in the Camera Plugin is able to provide serial VISCA over TCP for Carbonite control. The VISCA Gateway can be enabled in the Configuration > Gateway section of the Camera Plugin.
Unfortunately I am unable to share the tag structure of our configuration files here. If you were to add the appropriate information to the IP, ID, ROLE, SmartShell would automatically update after a restart. You would still need to configure the Furio GW in Dashboard for them to function with SmartShell.
Thank you,
Tim

Subject: Smart Shell Panel Selection for 12+ Cameras
Hi, may I jump in on this thread?
That explanation makes sense - I'm also adding new PTZ cameras to SmartShell.
Just to confirm, should these cameras use the VISCA protocol?
And could you share what the tag structure looks like in the configuration file?
If I add the camera info (IP, ID, role, etc.) there, will SmartShell automatically pick them up in the GUI?
Thanks!

Hi Sim,
I am not sure I understand your question. It is possible to add 12+ cameras to SmartShell. This must be done in the configuration file. It cannot be done directly through the SmartShell UI. The camera information (ip address, role, id, etc) must be added to the configuration file before it will appear in the SmartShell UI.
Does this answer your question?
