I have a take item group in Xpression and I'd like to be able to manually take the previous take items to what's currently playing without losing the group automation. I'm able to advance to the next take item in the group manually, but when I take the previous take item (manually or through scripting), the group automation is lost and the group is deactivated at the end of the current take item.
The group's playout mode is set to Timed. We're currently on Xpression v10.55

Here's what I tried in the custom Script Action:

dim takeItemGroup as xpTakeItemGroup
dim takeItem as xpBaseTakeItem
dim Current as xpBaseTakeItem
dim Prev as xpBaseTakeItem
engine.Sequencer.GetGroupByName("UP NEXT GFX",takeItemGroup)
takeItemGroup.GetPrevTakeItem(Current,Prev)
takeItem.SetFocus
takeItem.Execute

My guess is because you're moving the focus from the group to the actual item. When you trigger groups then the automation happens, when you move the focus to the item you're no longer triggering the group but the individual item so it behaves like a solo item not a group anymore.

I think this may be expected behavior. I tried to get this to work a few ways and couldn't get it to work. 
I tried using the xpTakeItemGroup.Reverse method as well without any success.

Thanks Red and Garner, yep that's the exact problem I'm running into.

I also tried the takeItemGroupDirection method, but that didn't work.
