We just did the v 7.0 update on a Carbonite Ultra frame with a Touch Drive panel. It went well but I thought I'd post some details since there can be a couple of places where you think it may have failed.
I started the update using the drag and drop function using file upgrade-7.0.0.8320.ultra.
I started a clock.
Upon confirming the upgrade, Dashboard went to a blank page with "Please Wait"
4 min: Dashboard came back but with all buttons greyed out with the exception of the clock settings and the frame color picker. The docs say to wait until Dashboard draws the pages and I wasn't sure if the pages were really ready or not since Dashboard was effectively non-functional. This is the first place I thought I had a failed upgrade. The TD panel reported a broken connection.
6 min: I did the power cycle on the frame since Dashboard was still all greyed out.
9 min: The Touch Drive came to life (I love how the buttons wake up).
10 min: Dashboard on the built-in touch screen came back
12 min: Dashboard on the PC came back.
So, there can be some times when you may think the update has failed. I had a previous update fail but with the help of Tech Support, we got the switcher going. So maybe I'm just a bit more nervous about this than some!
I haven't done the Dashboard update because I'm not sure it's necessary, I didn't see any release notes. I am still considering the Touch Drive update but that is where I had a fail last time and this version doesn't seem to contain much. I'm happy to hear other opinions.
