Hello, I have a lower third file sent to me by editors that I need to use to have it do the following in the following order:

    • Animate On
    • Have it loop until I animate out
    • Have text (ONLY) change if I use the same scene, but with different text

I have looked at videos and tried finding help on the forum here. If anyone has accomplished this before and can provide some guidance or even a scene you have used before, that would be helpful.

What I have done is built separate scene directors for "In", "Loop", "Back to Back In", and "Back to Back Out".

"In": I dragged and dropped the avi file on the sd and trimmed it to the frame right before the start of the looping frame

"Loop": Have it starting at the loop frame and going to the end, with an Event added to tell it to jump back to the top of the loop

B2B In and Out: Are just animating the font in/out

Issue: Anytime I trigger another L3rd (which is using the exact same scene) that only has different text, it does the full animation all over again and I don't really want that, I just want the text to change.

SN: Yes, I have set up Transition Logic runs for B2B. But am still getting the same issue.

What am I missing for this not to work properly?

Sounds like you need to use transition logic.

Would you mind posting a screenshot of how your Transition logic is set up? Each of the rules and conditions

Hey Danny, I took a look! I wasn't able to see what it really looked like, but I was able to get the Transition Logic running. From there, it would be a matter of adjusting animations as needed.

You were 99.9% of the way there, but the condition that you placed on the B2B animation Other Scene is NOT the same as this Scene is the opposite of what we want. Keep in mind that a Scene is the template that we're building our graphic out of, not a specific Take Item that gets made from a template on the Sequencer side. So in that sense, YES if the Scene IS the same (We're going from one L3 to another L3 of the same type), we want to run our B2B logic.

The other thing to keep in mind with Transition Logic, is that we should be placing both Preview Frame markers and Default Frame Markers on our Scene Directors. The Preview Frame marker (1 per Scene) tells XPression where it should generate a preview frame from. The Default Frame Markers (1 per Scene Director) tell XPression where it should park the playhead when the scene director isn't running. That way we won't see any other objects that aren't being animated jump around. You can place both of these markers by moving the playhead to the correct frame on the Scene Director, right clicking the playhead, then selecting Markers > Default/Preview > Set
