  • 1.  Transferring Sets from Carbonite Black to Carbonite Ultrix

    I recently had to replace the switcher frame for one of our production trucks. I was operating on a Carbonite Black with v13 software. Once we installed the new Ultrix frame and fired everything up, I lost all my sets that I have built over the years. I am using the same USB that I used in the previous frame.

    In our other truck, also a Carbonite Black, I updated from v13 to v15 and all my sets came along with the upgrade. A few personality settings needed adjusted, but otherwise everything works. 

    I know I can export sets from that frame and import them on the other frame, but it still leaves me missing several sets. Is there a way to upgrade those sets to be used with Ultrix? I can see them still there on the USB. If I run the upgrade file, even though it is the already on v15, will it pull those sets over to Ultrix from v13? Is it as simple as putting the set files in the Ultrix folder? I really don't want to rebuild all those CCs.

    In version 15 of carbonite Black (or using the simulator for Carbonite Black) you have to "export to Ultra/Ultrix Carbonite" to use them.

    they are very different and really you can pretty much just use it for Memories and Custom Controls.

    There was a complete change to the underlying code base from Carbonite / Carbonite Black to the New Ultra/Ultrix Carbonite/Ultra 60 system.

    OK. So I can't just upgrade them. Need to export them from a Black frame to be used on an Ultrix frame.

    Since I'm using the same USB drive from the old Black frame in the Ultrix, would those sets be accessible if I put that USB in my other Black frame that is now running v15 and export from them from there? Basically, do the sets need to be built on v15 for me to access them on a Black frame that is now running v15, if the sets were all built on a Black frame that was using v13?

    correct plug the usb into that frame then go in and use the export feature to export them.

    There is no "upgrading them"  The XML files and structures are different and the most efficient way that they could make a "conversion" was to implement the export feature on the Black systems.  Doing an "Import" was not possible.

    There is also a Simulator that can run in a VM that you can do it from.. however the most effective way is to go and export from the Frame you have.
