Hi Dominic,
It is not possible to change the look of Alarms filed inside the PiP (apart from position and size), but it is possible to create another UMD field which will be driven by RossTalk, where you can customize text content, text color and background color. In order to do that you should create a custom DashBoard panel that would convert alarm message into RossTalk command that will drive that new UMD field. One client is Spain asked about the same and this is the result (below). It is not so perfect example, the work was still in progress, but you can see that one PiP is reporting format error, which triggered a separate UMD field with red text and grey background:

Subject: Ultriscape Alarming Customizing
Hi Community,
I recently got the question, if the alarms that can be set up in an Ultriscape layout can be customized in any way.
Specifically, if the text of the warning massages and the background could be changed, to better differentiate between the shown errors. From the manual it seems only which errors are shown can be changed but not their style.
Does someone know a roundabout way to change it?
Best regards.
