  • 1.  UPGRADE FROM VERSION 8 TO VERSION 11.5

    Hi,

    We have recently upgraded our Xpression system to the new version. However, I've encountered some issues while working with a project that was created in version 8.

    I'm wondering why the performance measurement exceeds 170%. I don't believe that opening a project from version 8 in version 11 should cause this issue. Could this be related to a setting in the new version that we may need to adjust?

    Also, It's running super slow. When i click on a TAKE ID it takes like 10 seconds to take, Then another 10 seconds to go from a take id to another.

    I would love over your scripts and visual logics. - Make sure that everything is still compiling and doing the things you want it to do.  As that big of a jump, things have moved around a little.

    If still having issues, I would contact support and have them look into what you are seeing. - The other thing would be that xpression video codec 2 came out between those versions, and so re coding videos to the new codec might help as well.

    Jumping from version 8 to 11.5 is a big leap, and it makes sense you're seeing some hiccups. Performance slowdowns and long delays often point to compatibility issues or outdated codecs. Re-encoding assets with the newer codec could help, and making sure all scripts and modules are fully updated might smooth things out. Did you happen to test the upgrade in smaller steps first?

    I suggest you review your preferences for hardware settings. Often times, when upgrading software versions users assume that preferences don't properly conform. When moving up to higher versions the storage location of hardware and software settings (preferences) might not get carried across. This sounds like your Hardware Renderer (Edit>Preferences>Hardware Renderer) might need to be checked.
