Visual logic

    Hello,

I was hoping someone could help me with some visual logic for text positioning. I am trying to have my text always centered vertically aligned within a bounding text box. Any way to do this using visual logic?

    Hi Brian,

If the text has word wrap on and the text bounding box changes y scale, you can use that dimension, divide by 2 and that number would become the y position of your text. I am not at my xpression but I think that's the easiest way.

Is this known to not work on older versions of xpression? Since I think I remember trying this but when adding lines or removing lines it didn't keep centering as the verticall centerpoint of a textobject is not the mathematical centerpoint but a tad lower.

I've not heard of that issue. If it was you can just use an offset block to account for that.

Maybe I set something up the wrong way I'd have to have another look but I remember that I had an issue with it. Regardless, as long as it's not a more known issue since it's a quite common setup it was probably an "Error Code 40".

I would test and it and see if it does what you expect.

I sometimes use an offset or a group to move where the center is.

On another note just because I tried this out now. Do you know of any way to keep it centered vertically even while using autosqueeze height&width? Since when using that it will still be off center once the text starts to squeeze.

    Hi.
In this case I would not recommend using the autosqueeze function. In the picture below VL, where Quad 1 is the width and height limiter for the text.
