  • 1.  Xpression call to load Logo on MDK111-A via RossTalk

    Posted 03-28-2024 18:56

I would like to add Rosstalk commands to Xpression so that each new element that plays in Xpression sends a Rosstalk command to a Ross MDK111A Logo Generator to alternately load a bug (in English) and then next load a different bug with French text.  And continue toggling back and forth.

I have the MDK configured for IP Rosstalk with a port, and the Xpression GPI board/Rosstalk configured to point to the IP address(hostname) and port of the MDK.

The RossTalk messages available in the Xpression drop-down don't appear to include the command I need to trigger the MDK so I entered it manually.

MSPATH channel:0:file-name Loads a media file (file-name) from the CompactFlash® (0) into Logo channel number (channel). For example, MSPATH 4:0:Logo/Ross_LOGO.png loads the media file called Ross_LOGO.png from the Logo directory into channel 4.

It did not load the graphic.

I also tried KEYAUTO 1:keyer and KEYCUT 1:keyer

Neither  command turned the bug on or off.  Am I missing something?  Is there a diagnostic utility that I can fire up to enter these Rosstalk commands into to send on to the MDK?

    thanks,

    Hi John,

Are you able to ping the MDK at the IP address you've got configured on the card from the XPression machine? Note that the MDK card requires a dedicated Ethernet connection to the rear of the card (it doesn't use the shared port on the back of the openGear frame).

Note that the MSPATH command is case-sensitive for the logo filename.

I've attached a simple CustomPanel that has a single button that will fire a RossTalk command.

    • If you open it in DashBoard
    • Press CTRL-G to enter edit mode
    • Double-click the button to edit the RossTalk command
    • Double-click the RossTalk task in the Tasks List
    • You can now edit the RossTalk command, IP address and so on.
    • Click OK to save the Task
    • Click Apply and Close to save the button
    • Hit CTRL-G to exit edit mode
    • Click the button to fire the RossTalk command

    Cheers,

    Alun

    Hi Alun,

    Thanks for the detailed response.

I'll give this module a try and go from there.
