    Hi

I'm looking for a solution in XPression to grab the Virtual Output in a png file.

I'm using the API with framebuffer.GetCurrentFrame() and it's working well with a hardware output. It would be great to be able to export the rendering of multiple scenes on different layer as png for creating booklet for our clients with the designer licence.

Do you have an idea ?

    Many thanks !

    Hi Martin!

You could also place your scenes into your Sequencer, and then export the graphics by right-clicking and saying "Export Take Item To", then select images, and you can just select "Single Frame". You should be able to select multiple take items at one point so you can do it all in one go

    Hi

Thanks for your answer but that doesn't solve my problem. I need to export more than one scene in the same image. That's why grabbing the output is really useful ! The only problem is that it's not working with a virtual output.

Ahh, I see, you've got multiple graphics online on the same framebuffer and want to take a snapshot of the composite?

What's the error you're getting trying to do it with the Virtual Output? Or just nothing at all? (I'm not in front of a designer machine/virtual output at the moment)

    It's exactly that !
When trying to do framebuffer.GetCurrentFrame() with a virtual output, the result is "nothing". You get a xpImage with a hardware output.

Are you getting that error when using XPression Designer?
Designer does not support the API. You need Developer or Studio or BlueBox for that.

I have the same with all versions, even Studio.

Could just do a screen grab?  Either do a print screen paste into paint?  Or do a snipping tool and lasso what you need? - As long as you just need a single frame of what you are looking for.

    Garret,

Only in layout mode you can save a snapshot. So drag you scene from layoutmode to your virtual output bufer, move animation to the frame you need, and safe it.

We run an FTP server (Filezilla works). In the Xpression, we have a RossLinq output set up with credentials for the FTP server. Whatever graphics you send to that output get saved as a .tga file on the FTP server. This way, you can get multiple scenes (on different layers) in one screen grab.
