Brian,
There are two correct answers to the question, but it depends on the structure of the RossTalk command being sent.
to TAKE TAKE ID 11 there can be two different ways to do it
TAKE 0011:0:0
or
SEQI 11:0
the TAKE command in RossTalk has the following structure
TAKE [takeid]:[framebuffer]:[layer]
the SEQI (Sequence In) RossTalk has the following structure
SEQI [takeid]:[layer]
the difference is the SEQ commands will set the focus to the desired Take Item, where the TAKE command is a straight command to put that Take ID onto a framebuffer without setting the focus of the cursor onto the playlist at that Take Item.
So to answer your question, there isn't a way to not have the focus adjusted in a setting on the XPression end, but there is a different RossTalk command which can be used that doesn't set FOCUS (focus is where the cursor is sent to) in the UI. You might want to see if the TD can switch their command to TAKE and not SEQI commands. The end result will put the Take Item on output for both. The difference is the change of focus which is disruptive to a shared user experience like you are working in.
I have included RossTalk documentation for you to share with your TD.

I'm not sure I completely understand what you're saying. I just know that when I do graphics for sports, we usually have a 3 channel XPression; FB1&2 are for me, FB3 is for animations for the TD. I'll have a single sequence with all of my graphics and the TD's graphics as well. When the TD fires his animations from the switcher, my sequence doesn't jump to the graphic he just fired. How do I make that happen? Is it the type of Rosstalk command the switcher is sending or is it a setting in Studio?

Direct answer to your question. No there is not a way. - Likely the TD has the Rosstalk command built as a sequence in rather than a take command. They should build it as a take instead of as sequence in. - Sequence combines a take and a focus in the same step. That way it will move your attention in the Xpression sequencer.
Back to your original question, can you stop it from happening. Yes. But you would have to disable all incoming information to the xpression, so the switcher would not be able to trigger anything. Which I doubt is the result that you want.

Where is the setting to disable the sequencer following an incoming Rosstalk command? I want my highlighted row in the XPression sequencer to stay where it is when the switcher sends a RossTalk command to play an item elsewhere in the sequence.
