What are the best codecs for xpression?   I usually load .mov.  mp4 seems to be giving me more problems.

    Hi Timothy,

The best codec for XPression would be the XPression codec, though using Apple Prores 4444 also works very well.

By the way: I think you have mistakenly placed this post in the "Video Servers & Replay Systems" community instead of in the "Graphics" community where usually all the XPression related messages are posted.

    Hi Timothy,

Generally the issue with MP4s and XPression conversion is that the MP4 files are using the AVC1 codec and AVC1 is a very common codec for MP4.

The current version and implementation of FFMPEG, that XPression uses for video conversion, does not support AVC1.

You can check if an MP4 file is using the AVC1 codec by looking at it in MediaInfo: MediaInfo Download
