Hi!

I am working on creating some lower third name cards for our Online Worship Experience via Xpression. I have attached a mockup of the concept.

We utilized a slab to make the shape, and are trying to have the background scale in width based on the Datalinq text being pulled in. The issue we are running into is that the slab will stretch out, messing up the corners scaling. The goal is to go wider, but not affect any other part of the shape.

Any suggestions?

In VLogic adjust the width, don't scale.

I've done similar stuff and used an .obj model.

Make a rounded endcap as an .obj. It can be rotated 180 deg on the z axis to make both sides.

In the center add a quad and scale while adjusting the endcap position. Easy if you choose your origins/pivots correctly.

Hey Stephen!

If you make the background a child of the text (I'm assuming the top line), you can have it match the width length of text using the auto scale feature. I have a similar setup for some of my graphics and have attached a picture below.

Take note of object manager structure and auto scaling in the bottom right corner.

If you don't have that option due to being on an older version of Xpression (or any other reason), you can adjust it in Visual Logic like our friend, Azathoth Son of Cthulhu, suggested. I have also included a picture of what that might look like.

Take the bounding box width of the text, add the difference in pixels you want, and set it to the width of the background.

You are going to want to use a visual logic block as well to compare the 2 lines.  Get the bounding box width of top line and bottom line, and compare them.  That would then go to the example below, where you take the bounding box width and add a value to it. - You do the compare, that way if it ever a short name, like John Doe, then the subline will be considered as well when setting the width of the background.

You can also do a pivot visual logic block in order to help keep the left pixel where it is at.

There are plenty of other forum post that take you through this.  Just search around.
