Hello,

I would like to know if there was a way within Xpression to trigger a specific scene to go online automatically when a different scene is taken offline? 

The application this is being used is where we need a video feed to constantly play through Xpression while triggering new scenes in/out as overlays without losing the video feed.  If I start with my video feed, then introduce a scene, it mixes in properly.  When I go to take that new scene (overlay) offline, my video feed goes black with the overlay transitioning out.  At first, I thought I might could use a scene trigger on the Scene Director that plays the 'transition out' for each of the overlay scenes, but I can't get that trigger to play the 'clean' video feed scene.

The other thought I had was if there was a way to make the video feed a 'persistent' scene remaining on-air the entire time, and just introduce the overlay scenes as needed?  Upon the transition out, they would just reveal the clean video feed once the overlay plays itself out.

So far, I've not had any luck with either option.  Any guidance would be appreciated!

The idea of a persistent scene is probably the simplest solution for you, which in the case with XPression, would be using layers. Set your clean 'video feed' take item to a layer below the default Layer 0 of your overlay take items. Layer -1 would work fine, but for safety you can choose a number like -99 to allow for additional layering of your other take items. 

That video feed take item will remain on layer -99 until another item is taken on the same layer or you choose to take that item offline. Overlay items on Layer 0 can be taken in and out without affecting the video feed.

You can take this a step further and set the default layer of the scenes in Layout, so if additional take items are created, the layer value will be preset in Sequence. 

You can do this by

1. Going to Layout (F3)
2. Selecting your video feed scene
3. Clicking on the scene object in the Object Manager
4. Going to the Take Item tab in the Object Inspector
5. Setting the Default Take Item Layer
