I am a relatively new user of Dashboard and I was wondering if there was anyway to code into a panel link to close the grid that it is switching from. For example, press a panel switch on Grid A to take you to Grid B and this then closes the Grid A.

The feature you are looking for will be in the next release of DashBoard. Instead of using an tag (external link), you will want to use the updated tag and specify the “openpanelid” attribute:
We don’t presently have a beta available - the tag with a level of “panel” is in the current version but the support for “openobjectid” will not be available until 8.6.
