I am wondering what other cameras Dashboard can control other than the PivotCam. In some of the Ross documentation, I’ve seen references to SOME Sony devices and a Panasonic model however they appear to be quite pricey. As an example, as long as the camera operates with VISCA over IP, will that suffice?
Hello? Anyone? Is it possible no one is monitoring this group?
Well.. The old PTZ control panel ROSS used to have for DashBoard was just based on VISCA as far as I know, so as long as you have the correct IP, Port, and build the command correctly, I would belive you could control any VISCA based PTZ camera through DashBoard.
Frankly, the message builder is so versatile I imagine you could control most cameras that have a form of open documentet control protocol anyhow.
However, if you want to add a PTZ camera today, hit the plus sign int he Basic Tree View, and choose “other”, then go to the folder “Cameras”.
There allready you’ll find a few selections of different types of cameras. If you then pick “PTZ Camera”, you’ll get a menu and input fields for IP Address, Display Name, Slot and Model.
Models available (at least on my version of DashBoard) is:
PIVOTCam-SE (of course)
Sony BRC-H900
Sony BRC-X1000
Panasonic AW-UE15
And I think someone is monitoring this forum. But it’s been quiet for some time now yes…
Sure they’re not far though. Usually get answers here.

Hi Steve,
We support a variety of Sony and Panasonic cameras, it two forms. One being a custom panel that you configure based on your camera type and the other being a native DashBoard Plug-in, both ways have a cost associated with them on top of the cost of the camera.

Please note that even if a camera supports Visca, I’ve yet to see one work 100% due to differences in how the camera manufacturer implemented it. This is usually quite apparent when dealing with Iris/Focus/WB etc as they tend to have different ranges based on the cameras specs.
While it is possible to build your own panel to do this, unless you are a very competent JS developer, it would be quite difficult to create.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Mike
