Hey Dylan! I’ve got 2 options for you. You could set up a script action as a GPI trigger in your Keyboard/GPI Mapping to continuously loop through a group of wipes. I used a widget to count up myself, however you could also set up a global variable to accomplish the same thing.
First, I created a group for all my wipes and numbered them starting at 500 (you can use any number, just make sure they’re sequential).
Next, I created a counter widget with the default name of “Counter1” and set it to start at 501 (my starting take ID) then count up to a max value of 510 (you can change this to the number of wipes you want to cycle through).
Then I created a Script Action Global Shortcut under Keyboard/GPI Mapping using the script provided below. If you have more than 10 wipes in the group, you can change 510 to the your number of take items inside the if statements. If your group ID number is something other than 500, that will need to be changed in the script as well.
dim counter as integer
dim takeitem as xpTakeItem
dim widget as xpCounterWidget
Engine.GetWidgetByName(“Counter1”, widget)
engine.Sequencer.GetTakeItemByID(Clng(widget.Value), takeitem)
takeitem.Execute
if widget.Value < 510
widget.Up
else if widget.Value = 510
widget.Reset
end if
You can assign this shortcut a GPI number and trigger it from your Carbonite using a RossTalk Command such as “GPI 1”. If the wipes all have a similar cut point, this should allow you to have 1 CC to trigger every wipe.
Alternatively, a simpler solution is to set your wipe group to the Timed Playout Mode and set the item timing to Advance Manually. If you trigger the group itself, it will push to the next item in the list. This does require that the group stays in an active state. Beware if you take the group offline and re-trigger from your Carbonite, it will start at the top of the list again.
Hopefully one of these assists with this! Either solution should be a singular CC on your switcher.
