  • 1.  Relative CC on__2 MLE effect

    Posted 05-20-2013 03:42
When using a 2 MLE effect and hitting a relative custom control, it is known that the CC will fire on the 1st MLE.

Is there any way to change this so the CC fires on the 2nd MLE?

There are a few 2MLE effects that involve transitions that would have to be done on the 2nd MLE when using OD, and we would love to be able to use these effects.

    Thanks,

    - Jason

Hi Jason, You mean that you only wanna do a CC on MLE2?

Record a CC (not a relative) only on MLE2,

Hope this is what you mean.

Thanks for the reply Jurgen, but that's not what I meant.

I meant is there a way to fire a CC to run on the 2nd MLE in the stack of the effect, not necessarily MLE2.

If your effect is build on a timeline (DVE), and you fire that timeline with a CC, in that same CC, build a pause that fills the effecttime, and after that pause, record your next steps. Hopefully this is what you mean.

    Hi Jason,

First of all, I apologize for the late reply. I was the trainer at your station, KSWB, and if I recall correctly, your station has a 4MLE Vision switcher.

When you build a two-MLE effect, you are building it so that when OverDrive recalls the effect in the template, it either uses MLE1 and MLE 3, or MLE 2 and MLE 3. So MLE 3 is your second MLE, and it's also the constant MLE. In this case, you will need a regular custom that is built specifically for MLE 3, so that if you were to run an effect, for example, it would only happen in MLE3.

As a quick reminder, please be sure to turn "Editor" off when you are building any effect or custom controls on the switcher, and make sure the upper MLEs (1, 2, and 3) are not re-entered anywhere on the other MLEs when recording relative custom controls.

Please let me know if you require more assistance. Thanks!

    Thank you Ian!

I arrived at KSWB after training had taken place. But you're correct it's the 4MLE.

I had thought about doing what you said in creating a custom control that runs on a specific MLE in order to create the desired effect using 2 MLES, but I decided not to because I didn't want to create confusion for an operator.

We have come up with a number of complex effects that use 2 MLEs and need to wipe on the first MLE in the stack but can not unless customs are made for MLE 1 and 3. With the high number of details we operators are already focused on, I don't want to add having to figure out which MLE is first in the stack. I understand that my wish may not be possible.

    Thanks again,

    - Jason

Guys, I finally figured out that you can in-fact build relative customs to fire on the second MLE in the stack, within a 2-MLE effect. To do so, just record a relative custom, and while recording make your actions take place on the 2nd MLE in the stack of a 2 MLE effect. Too easy!

Knowing this will be a big advantage to us!
