OverDrive and Caprica 25.2 are now available, continuing the wider modernization program introduced with Version 25.
This release combines the first major visible updates to the OverDrive user experience in nearly 10 years with several important Caprica enhancements around system flexibility, panel control and device integration. The focus remains simple: modernize and simplify where we can, while maintaining the operational workflows and reliability customers already depend on.
A New Aura Experience
The most visible change in 25.2 is the new Aura Newsroom Plugin, bringing OverDrive into the modern Ross user experience while keeping the familiar workflow intact.
Alongside the new look and feel, the plugin adds Pinned & Recent shots and keyboard shortcuts, helping users get to commonly used content faster and navigate the plugin more efficiently.
The current and new interfaces will remain available side by side during the transition, giving customers time to become familiar with the new experience before the legacy interface is retired.
Caprica Bus Maps: More Flexible System Configuration
One of the biggest additions in 25.2 is the introduction of configurable Bus Maps for OverDrive and Caprica.
Bus Maps allow engineers to define how the buses expected by an OverDrive show relate to the buses available on the connected switcher. This makes it easier to adapt or move shows between systems where the underlying switcher configuration is different.
For customers running multiple control rooms, changing switcher configurations or reusing show files across different environments, this can reduce a significant amount of manual rework. Bus Maps can also be transferred using Product Toolkit, making configuration easier to move between systems.
More Caprica Flexibility
Caprica 25.2 also adds support for up to six CX Director and Everything panels on the same system, along with multiple user configurations.
New REST Device support provides a simpler path for integrating custom devices, while expanded Docker deployment options and broader HyperMax support continue to make Caprica easier to deploy, maintain and adapt to different production environments.
The Next Step in OverDrive Modernization
OverDrive 25.2 is an important milestone in the evolution of the platform. The new Aura Newsroom Plugin is the first highly visible part of that work, while Bus Maps and the wider Caprica enhancements continue to improve flexibility behind the scenes.
