  • 1.  Switch between 2 cams with the same monitor in both shots

We have a wide shot that we get on cam 2 then we go to a tighter shot on cam 3 they both have the same monitor in them. Problem is when we go to cam 3 the monitor cues up to the next video clip. Overdrive does not know that the monitor and clip are still on air and are in use. Is there a way for me to build a template that allows overdrive to know that the VR is still in use and to cue up the next clip in the other VR?

We have done something like this by using a single OverDrive template for both shots. The 1st camera shot would be in program and the 2nd camera shot would be in preview on the same MLE. Then we attach a custom control that performs a cut on the "on-air MLE". So you hit the custom control when you want to move to the next camera shot. You don't see the 2nd shot in preview, but you also don't loose your video/monitor by preparing another OverDrive shot.

Does overdrive recognize that the VR or CG in the monitor is still in use?

Rwykle thank you for getting me on the right path. We use key 3 to overlay our camera shots over the video so that we can have our video play in the monitor. All I had to do is build a custom control to change key 3.
