  • 1.  Video on the Back Side of a Keyer

I am trying to build an effect that has keyable banners on the front and back side of Key 4, running from separate VIZ channels, and 2 different videos on the front and back side of Key 3 running from separate TONS channels. I have built 2 sequences to rotate both of these keyers at the same time (for use in a tease, hot open, etc..) The one problem I have run into is that when the video from the backside rotates to the front, it does not roll automatically. Is there anyway to force this to roll like videos normally do, or do I have to do something tricky where I have the video punch up somewhere on the MLE where it won't be seen, but will get it to roll?

Amy, I built a similar effect a few years ago and ran into the same problem. While I did not end up using the effect - here is a work around. Assuming you are using a relative CC to hit auto transition to run the effect - you could make a different relative CC that hits Auto and also rolls the corresponding TONS channel.

Ahhh yes, that is a good work around! I haven't used the effect on air either, but what I ended up doing was programming the custom control to put the TONS channel that is being wiped to on the backside of the keyer onto the front side of the keyer after the rotation has gone around enough to not see it switch over, but in time to trigger the channel to roll before it is fully revealed after the rotation. I then continued with that same theory and added the ability to rotate to a third TONS channel. Does that make sense?
