Hello. I'm new to streamline, and I'm adding some video assets to it for our station. Is there a way to have thumbnails show up in search? Right now, it's only the generic video icon. Thanks in advance for the help.

Streamline comes with a copy of Telestream Vantage for generating proxy and thumbnails as assets are ingested. Normally the system is commissioned with that workflow already configured - if it is not currently working our technical support team should be able to help get it set up for you. Depending on the file format and codec Vantage may not be able to transcode the particular video file you are ingesting. Ensure that the file can be played back on the Streamline server. The setup procedure for Streamline with Vantage is fairly involved so it might be best to have a member of our support team TeamViewer into your system to see how it is set up currently and make any configuration changes that are necessary.

I'll check with our Engineers and see if Telestream Vantage was configured. The videos are being encoded using XPression Video Coder (I believe Codec 6.2). We were told to encode lossless movs through it. All of those clips cannot be previewed in Streamline, nor do they have a thumbnail that generated. There are a couple of clips that our hub put in that are not .avi using that codec. They are .mp4 with the rle Codec, and those preview in Streamline and generate a thumbnail. If the Telestram Vantage is installed, do you have any other suggestions? I've tried using the Xpression Codec while rendering in After Effects CC 2015 with those same results.

If other video formats (such as .mp4 with rle Codec) do preview and give a thumbnail in Streamline (while the XPression encoded AVIs do not) then I suspect that the XPression codec is either not installed on the Streamline box or the system requires a reboot for Telestream to recognize the newly installed codec. Can you confirm whether or not the XPression codec is installed on the Streamline/Vantage computer?

Ok, it seems as though something was wrong with Telestream Vantage. It now fixed, and all new videos I upload have thumbnails and will play. The videos already in there still have no thumbnail and won't play. I'm assuming I have to reupload those? Also, is there a way to choose the frame for the thumbnail? Thanks for all of your help!

Sorry for the delayed response. You should be able to hit the Transcode button from the Asset browser and it should attempt to re-transcode the files that were not transcoded the first time.
