  • 1.  Quick Recall for Viz glitch??

    Posted 01-21-2014 20:56
Odd thing happened today, with no good explanation. There were 2 full screen graphics in a story in OPUS. The director had assigned them to Viz 3, but did not code the template for Viz 3. So, when they go to this story on air, they advanced OverDrive to prep the 1st board in Viz 3 and then hit the Quick Recall on OverDrive to preset Viz 3 full to take to air. As soon as they advanced to put Viz 3 on the air, the second board popped up, even though the director did not advance to it and the OverDrive screen did not jump ahead to indicate that board was on the air. I played around with it some and this seems to happen with all of the Viz Quick Recalls, and I have no idea why. There are no weird Custom Controls attached to these templates that would be making this happen. There don't seem to be problems with any other Quick Recalls. Maybe it's just some weird glitch...I dunno. Has anyone else experienced this or have ANY clue why it is happening?

    Hi Amy,

Not sure why it's doing that, sounds like a development question. However, maybe try making those quick recalls "Set Crosspoint" templates (with the appropriate Viz channel selected) rather than the device specific version.

Has anything changed with the system recently?

    Hey Chris!

Thanks for replying. That is what's so confusing...they ARE set crosspoint templates...so it makes no sense at all! Nothing has changed with the system that I can think of. Chances are this is just some situation we hadn't run across before...or maybe it happened once and we wrote it off as a glitch. I'm stumped!

    Hi Amy,

Just wondering if the Viz 3 is set to " Force Cue to PGM?" You can check this by going to the Template Editor and look at the device "Viz 3." It should be set to "Force Cue to PST."

If it's set to "Force Cue to PGM," as soon as you take the QR template to take Viz 3 on air, it cues up the next full screen via the next MOS CG template. Check that and let us know what you find.

Thanks Ian...that was a great idea, I was so hopeful! But, alas, all of our Viz channel devices are set up to "Force Cue to Pst". I have also discovered that this problem happens with ALL Viz Quick Recalls. Channels 1,2,3 and Pvw 1,2,3. I'm preplexed. I'm beginning to think this isn't necesarrily a new problem, just something we've happened to not run into before. Right now my easy answer is to not use Viz full Quick Recalls!

Thanks for checking on that. Can you tell us what version Overdrive you're using? Also the software version for the Vision switcher?

To find out, go to the Help menu on Rundown Control, and select "About." You should see the software version as well as the build number. On the switcher, simply press "Home" and you should see it on the Home menu.

Our Switcher is Version 10.1 q MD

    Our OverDrive is Version 8.11.4665

Not that this really helps you, but just wanted to point out... at our shop we choose to force our viz graphics to program, and if we have back to back graphics coded in the same viz channel the graphic will not advance when the 2nd mos object is previewed because it knows that channel is already on air.

So, in other words, even if your graphics were set to "force to program" they sill shouldn't advance in this situation.
